Just heard this sad news that BB KING has died overnight at 89 years old. I was lucky enough to see him live a few years ago before he retired from coming to Europe and it was one of the best gigs I've been to. It was a big venue (Cardiff) but he managed to draw everyone in from his interaction with the crowd and calm nature even in front of such a big audience.
I don't think anyone could get so much emotion out of one note on the guitar and he was definately a less is more guitarist that I don't think anyone will be able to touch.
He taught me that you don't need to worry about theory and scales but love what you play and put your emotion into it, this cemented him as one of the greats to me when I was starting to pick up the guitar at an early age.
What a loss to the guitar community, he is going to be in my thoughts today.
