If you follow me on Twitter you will know that I've been having several problems with the UK Mobile operator THREE. I won't go into too many details on these but suffice to say that below average customer service and cell reception didn't help them keep my business.
Given I have just gone through this process I thought I would write up my experience. Before starting you need to make sure you know when your contract us up, mine had one month left, this is given to you when you call the number.
End to end I.e. from picking up the call, being on hold and talking to three different customer representatives took about 30 minutes to cancel my contract, here is what I did:
- Call 333 from the mobile that you want to cancel (or 0333 300 3333 from a landline)
- You will be presented with an automated menu, use the option that is listed as 'phone upgrades or cancelling contract'
- I was then on hold for about 10 minutes before talking to my first representative, if you are determined that you want out then it's best to avoid all small talk and as I did just say 'I'm not interested in any deals and want to leave the network, please can you process my cancellation' (hopefully they accept this, they did with me)
- You will now be transferred to someone else who can process the actual cancellation, remember to ask for your PAC CODE (this will be sent to you via TXT, they will also tell you what it is on the phone so have a pen handy - oh and it's valid for 28 days so make sure you move ASAP)
So for me that was it, I had an early termination fee of one month as I left a bit earlier but I had my PAC Code and could move on. When you get your new service make sure you fill out a transfer form to move your number from your old network to your new one via your PAC code.
Let me know if you have any problems.
